THE EXTRAS STRIKE BACK

A musical tribute to the forgotten heroes of Star Wars

SYNOPSIS

For too long the supporting characters of Star Wars have been overshadowed by the popularity of the beloved heroes. Well… no more. Who really was Roger, Roger? Was the Wampa actually mean? And why is that Imperial officer always being choked? Original songs, questionable characters, out of this world stupidity. Discover the untold stories behind the galaxy’s background characters in this uplifting, comedic, musical cabaret as we finally give the extras their long-overdue leading moment in the sun - or should we say ‘twin suns’... Forget all about Luke, Leia, Chewie and Han because tonight The Extras Strike Back.

CLARKE AND GEHM

Based in London, Glenn Clarke and George Gehm have been writing together since they met in 2015 at Brunel University. After spending some time trying to write large scale, Tony Award winning musicals, the pair decided to return to what they knew best - Star Wars. They often  drafted  Star Wars Lyrics when writing to experiment with rhyming patters and stresses of beats. One day, they  figured ‘why not just do a whole Star Wars show?’ and here we are. They are so thrilled to be sharing The Extras Strike Back with the world and they hope it sparks a new generation of Star Wars super fans. Past projects include ‘One Minute Musicals’ which featured short comedy jingles based on recent news items on the TikTok and Instagram accounts.

SHOW INFORMATION

After its preview on July 21st 2023 at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern, The Extras Strike Back had a hugely successful debut at Edinburgh Fringe 2023 selling over 1000 tickets over a 15 show run. A cast of 3, currently Glenn Clarke, George Gehm and Stephen Quinn, paired with low budget costumes and comedy cabaret musical theatre songs proved to be a winning combination as The Extras Strike Back received four and five star reviews and a large number of positive audience reviews on the Edinburgh Fringe Website. The show has also been performed at The Courtyard Theatre, London, and The Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff.
